The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has published the latest ratings for Nigerian tertiary institutions ahead of the 2024 admissions period. This ranking considers five key factors: the most subscribed institutions by candidates, national admission spread, gender balance improvement, the number of international students, and adherence to admission guidelines.

1. University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)

The University of Ilorin, situated in Kwara State and established in 1975, stands as one of Nigeria’s top choices for higher education. Known for its academic excellence and extensive research opportunities, UNILORIN attracted 97,351 applicants for the 2023/2024 academic session. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across faculties such as arts, education, engineering, law, and sciences. The institution is also dedicated to community service and has partnerships promoting research and development.

2. University of Lagos (UNILAG)

Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos is one of Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious universities. With 75,967 applicants for the 2023/2024 academic session, UNILAG is renowned for its academic excellence, innovative research, and community engagement. The university offers various programs in faculties including arts, education, engineering, law, and sciences.

3. Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK)
